eligibility criteria

• • Educational qualification: Candidates must have minimum three years Diploma in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a University or Institution recognized by the State Board of Technical Education or Government. Candidates having higher qualification (Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) from a recognized University or Institute are also eligible.

• • Essential Requirement: As per Punjab Civil Services (General and General Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994, Rule 17, candidates must have passed the Matriculation Examination or any other equivalent examination in Punjabi language with Punjabi as one of the compulsory or elective subjects.

• • Desired: Higher qualification in relevant discipline (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering degree) is desirable.

• • Experience: There is no specific experience mentioned in the notification.

• • Important Note for Advertisement 15/2025: Candidates who had applied in Local Government Department Advertisement dated 01-07-2015 and successfully paid the fee as per the order of Hon’ble High Court in Civil Writ Petition 659 of 2018 will be given age relaxation. However, no fee will be charged from such candidates again for this advertisement.

• • Validity of Certificate: Educational/Technical qualification certificates should be issued before the last date of application (21-01-2026 for Advt 15, last date of application for Advt 16).

 

Salary/Stipend

• • Pay Scale: Level-6 as per 7th Central Pay Commission

• • Maximum Age for SC/BC Candidates of Punjab: 42 years

• • Maximum age for State/Central Government employees: 45 years (with NOC from department)

• • Maximum Age for Ex-Servicemen of Punjab: As per Punjab Ex-Servicemen Recruitment Rules, 1982 with amendments. The upper age limit will be calculated after deducting the length of service in the armed forces. If the remaining age after deduction is not more than 3 years from the upper age limit as per service rules, the candidate will be considered eligible.

• • Age relaxation for women: As per Punjab Government letter No. 1/50/83-5PP(1368)/3454 dated 23/04/1984, relaxation in upper age limit up to 40 years will be given for widows, divorcees and some other categories of married women.

selection process

• • Written Examination: Candidates who successfully apply online will be called for objective type multiple choice questions (MCQ) written examination.

• • Preparation of merit list: Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written examination

• • Tie-breaking rules: In case of equal marks in written examination:
    • • First Preference: Older candidate (based on date of birth)

     

    • • Second Priority: Higher percentage in required educational qualification

     

    • • Third priority: high marks in matriculation examination

     

• • Document Verification/Consultation: On the basis of merit list, candidates will be called for document verification/counselling. The number of candidates called will be decided by the Board or competent authority considering category-wise vacancies

• • Final Selection: Only after successful verification of all documents and fulfilling the eligibility criteria, names of the candidates will be recommended to the concerned department based on the available vacancies.

• • Important Note: Online application, written examination, merit list or appearing in counseling does not guarantee selection. Final recommendation depends on complete eligibility verification and vacancy availability

 

General information/instructions

• • Punjab Domicile Mandatory: Only residents of Punjab state are eligible for reservation benefits. Valid residence/residence certificate (not older than 5 years) must be produced during counselling.

• • Category Certificate: SC/BC/Ex-Serviceman/PWD/EWS certificates should be as per the prevailing instructions of Punjab Government.

• • Category Code Selection: Candidates should select the category and category code carefully while filling the online form as it cannot be changed at any stage

• • Ex-Servicemen Preference: ESM (Self) candidates will be given first preference. Only if ESM (self) is not available, ESM (dependent) candidates will be considered

• • Women Reservation: The recruitment will be done as per Punjab Civil Services (Reservation of Posts for Women) Rules, 2020, Notification No. GSR 87/Const/Art.309 & 15/2020 dated 21/10/2020.

• • Document Upload: Candidates have to scan the required certificates in PDF format and upload them in a single file during online application.

• • No personal communication: All recruitment related information will be published only on the Board’s website. No personal communication will be sent to the candidates

• • No TA/DA: No traveling allowance or daily allowance will be given for attending the written examination or counselling.

• • Step 2 – Click on Online Application: Click on “Online Application” link on the website

• • Step 3 – Select Post: For Advertisement 16, first click on Junior Engineer post, then select one of Civil/Mechanical/Electrical as per your qualification.

• • Step 4 – Registration: Fill the personal and educational details carefully and complete the registration. A username will be generated after successful registration

• • Step 5 – Login and fill the form: Login using the generated username and complete the application form step-wise

• • Step 6 – Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of passport size photograph, signature, matriculation certificate (for date of birth), 12th certificate, diploma/degree certificate and category certificate (if applicable).

• • Step 7 – Submit Application: Submit the complete application form after uploading all the documents. The form will be accepted only after successful fee payment
