RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process
Specifically, the structured selection process for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 systematically consists of five consecutive stages. These include First Stage CBT (CBT-1), Second Stage CBT (CBT-2), Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME).
Because CBT-1 is strictly a screening test, RRB does not count its scores in the final selection panel. Instead, the board carefully prepares the final merit list on the basis of combined marks of Part-A of CBT-2 (50% weightage) and CBAT score (50% weightage). Furthermore, RRB applies a negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer in both CBT-1 and CBT-2. However, there is no negative marking in the CBAT.
Stage 1 – First Stage CBT (CBT-1) – Screening Only
| Details | Particulars |

Step 4 & 5 – Document Verification (DV) and Medical Examination (ME)
RRB prepares the final merit list RRB-wise from the candidates who successfully qualify in the CBAT. Consequently, the board gives 50% weightage to Part-A of CBT-2 marks and 50% weightage to the CBAT score. Finally, RRB ultimately shortlists candidates equal to the exact number of vacancies for Document Verification and the Medical examination.
Tie-Breaking Rules:
| 1st Tie-Break | Seniority of age (older candidate preferred) |
| 2nd Tie-Break | Alphabetical order (A to Z) of given name (not surname) |
RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 – Medical Standard
The ALP designation officially holds a Medical Standard of A-1. Therefore, candidates must be physically fit in all respects with strict, uncompromising vision requirements. Furthermore, RRB strictly prohibits candidates who have undergone LASIK surgery or any other corrective eye surgeries from applying. Lastly, candidates must successfully submit a self-screening medical declaration report on the day of the CBAT examination.
| Medical Standard | General Fitness | Vision Standards |

How to Apply for RRB ALP Recruitment 2026
Candidates must systematically submit applications online only through the official websites of the participating RRBs. Moreover, the board will not accept hard copy or offline applications under any circumstances. Keep in mind, the online portal remains active from 15-05-2026 to 14-06-2026 (23:59 hrs).
Initially, candidates must create a secure account on the RRB portal. If you created an account for the CEN notified in 2024/2025, you should use the same credentials. Additionally, you cannot modify the details filled in the “Create Account” form (including mobile number, email ID) and the RRB chosen at any stage after account creation.
Most importantly, you can apply for only one RRB and submit only one application. Consequently, multiple applications in the same or different RRBs will result in instant rejection of all applications and debarment from future RRB/RRC examinations. Furthermore, RRB strongly advises Aadhaar or DigiLocker authentication during account creation for an easier enrollment process. Finally, the system strictly captures a live photograph during the online application; it does not accept pre-existing photos.
Documents Required at the Time of Document Verification:
- Age Proof – Matriculation/ SSLC/ 10th class certificate
- Educational Qualification (Matriculation onwards) – Marksheet and Certificate
- ITI/Diploma/Degree certificate in prescribed trade/subject
- SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/Ex-Serviceman certificate (if applicable), in the prescribed format and issued by the competent authority
- Self Screening Medical Declaration Report (Annexure VIII A & VIII B) – to be submitted on CBAT day

Therefore, we advise candidates to regularly visit the official RRB website of their chosen RRB for updates on all stages, including admit card download notifications.
