Selection Process for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026
The Staff Selection Commission conducts a multi-tier Computer-Based Examination (CBE) to select eligible candidates. The process includes:
- Tier-I Examination: An objective-type CBT covering four sections (English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness). It consists of 100 questions for 200 marks with a 60-minute duration. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer.
- Tier-II Examination: Candidates who qualify Tier-I will appear for Tier-II, which is conducted in two sessions on the same day. It includes Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning, English Comprehension, General Awareness, and a Computer Knowledge Test.
- Skill / Typing Test: Conducted as Section-IV of Tier-II. LDC/JSA candidates must pass a Typing Test, while DEO candidates must pass a Skill Test. Both are qualifying in nature.
- Document Verification: Final verification of original age, education, and category certificates by the allotted user departments.
How to Apply Online for SSC CHSL 2026
SSC has moved to a new website format requiring One-Time Registration (OTR). Follow these steps to apply:
- Visit the new official SSC portal at ssc.gov.in or download the “my SSC” mobile application.
- If you are a new user on this portal, complete the One-Time Registration (OTR). Note: Old OTRs from the previous website will not work.
